Innovation and Technology
To succeed on today’s fast-paced markets, technological innovation is one of the mainstays of the Fiat Group’s strategies. To cope with global competitive pressures and the mounting demand for products that continue to break new ground in terms of safety, performance and respect for the environment, the companies in all of the Group’s operating sectors have allocated higher proportions of their revenues to research and development.
To promote sustainable mobility on multiple fronts, Fiat’s research and development work involved approximately 13,200 people at 116 centres around the world. R&D investments totalled some 1.6 billion euros, or around 3.2% of net revenues of Industrial Activities.
Thanks to the intensive work by each of the sectors, sustained by the high value-added, cross-organizational research conducted by the Group’s scientific hubs, the Centro Ricerche Fiat and Elasis, major advances were made in product and manufacturing process technology.
Code of Conduct
"Success is measured in part by the way we achieve it" . The values upon which a Company is based are as important as its industrial projects and financial viability. The Fiat Group is aware that investments in machinery and plants alone cannot account for the results a company achieves. One must also consider its imperceptible legacy, like for example people or values. Fiat is a major international Group which, because of its size, activities and geographical spread, has an enormous responsibility: that of being an example for disseminating a code of conduct that is synonymous with fairness, respect, credibility and cooperation. The principles and values, both moral and social, by which the Group abides have been collected in the "Code of Conduct". It is a document for the men and women of Fiat, but also their suppliers and commercial partners, and represents the fundamental point of reference for day-to-day operations.
