Alrosa Co. Ltd.

Alrosa Co. Ltd. is a closed-type joint-stock company, successor to the enterprises, organizations and divisions of the former YakutAlmaz Association, Committee for Precious Metals and Precious Gemstones (Gokhran of the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation) and the Almazjuvelirexport Foreign Trade Association specialized in sorting, initial processing and supply of rough diamonds which were incorporated into the Company’s structure.

The Almazy Rossii - Sakha Company was established under Decree No.158s of 19.02.1992 by the President of the Russian Federation issued on the basis of the resolution of the meeting of the Company’s founders held on July 25th, 1992, in the city of Yakutsk.

Almazy Rossii-Sakha was registered on August 13th, 1992 in the city of Mirny (Resolution No. 554 by the Administration of the Mirny District).

The Company commenced its industrial and commercial operation on January 1st, 1993.

Pursuant to a decision taken by the Shareholders’ General Meeting on June 27th, 1998 (Protocol No. 12) the full and abbreviated name of the Company has been changed. These changes were registered by the Administration of the Mirny Ulus on August 26th, 1998 (Certificate No. 510).

Shareholders of Alrosa Co. Ltd.:

- Russian Federation: Ministry for Property Relations of the Russian Federation: 37%
- Republic of Sakha (Yakutia): the Ministry for Management of the State-Owned Property of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia): 32%
- Employees of enterprises and organisations of the diamond industry, as well as other individuals: 23%
- Administrations of the districts (Ulus) of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) on whose territories the Company operates: 8%

At present ALROSA Co. Ltd. is undertaking active efforts to establish itself in the niche of diamond manufacturing. This is in line with the company's general strategy of building a vertically integrated structure incorporating all the links of the entire diamond pipeline - from mining to diamond jewellery retailing.
Brillianty ALROSA is the diamond cutting and polishing division of ALROSA. Today it is one of the leading diamond manufacturers in Russia. In 2004 Brillianty ALROSA produced and marketed polished goods worth USD 131 million. The bigger part of its polished diamonds was sold for export. The buyers were some 40 companies from the USA, Belgium, Israel, China, etc.
The main specialization of Brillianty Alrosa is so-called 'Russian Cut' diamonds which traditionally occupy a niche of their own in the world polished diamond market.

The high quality standard is ensured by:

- generous investment in innovative technologies, up-to-date machinery and retooling;
- personnel training programs and advanced training methods as well as regular raw material supplies to the trainee production lines;
- close collaboration with other Russian cutters as a method for consolidation of the traditional Russian cutting expertise and craftsmanship.

Brillianty Alrosa sells round and fancy diamonds on the domestic market and internationally and offers its customers the entire range of polished goods (all size/weight groups, colours and qualities). Finished products are carefully selected and grouped into lots by skilled professionals with a view to meet customer requirements.
