Greece officially the Hellenic Republic is a country in southeastern Europe, situated on the southern end of the Balkan Peninsula. It has borders with Albania, the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia and Bulgaria to the north, and Turkey to the east. Greece have 1400 islands, of which near 200 are inhabited. Most famous islands are Crete, Ithaca, Chios, Corfu, Lesbos, Samos, Rhodes, Kythira.

Athens – the capital and the largest city of Greece. Large greek cities: Thessaloniki, Piraeus, Patras, Heraklion, Peristeri, Larissa, Kallithea. Government - Parliamentary republic, President - Karolos Papoulias, Prime Minister - Kostas Karamanlis.
